“An ambitious and often moving show created by So & So Circus. There is much to cheer here, not least of which is their unique physical language. Relationships are expressed through acrobatics, shifts of weight and delicate balancing acts.
It says something when the burden of emotion can be demonstrated simply by one performer standing on another’s shoulders.”
The Guardian
“Assembling an arresting story with humour, candour and ravishing acrobatics, Backgammon for Beginners is never factual, but always truthful.”
This Is Cabaret
‘Yeki Bood, Yeki na bood’; an Iranian saying to start a tale. ‘There was a man, there was nobody’
In 1976 a bemused Iranian man arrives on a military jet in London.
He holds nothing but a suitcase, a complicated past, and a love of backgammon.
Stunning acrobatics and a breathtaking live score are used to tell the story of Roshan, a charming but ultimately flawed man, and his numerous adventures in a foreign and often frightening land.
Backgammon becomes a seduction tool, cockney accents cause confusion and the Iran he once knew disappears after the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Following on from the huge success of The Hot Dots, the award winning So & So Circus bring you this not-to-be-missed show which is at once funny, touching and entertaining, featuring acrobatics as you have never seen them before.
